Darmera
This perennial grows 3 or 4 feet high and is found wild on mountain streambanks and in forests from northwest California to southwest Oregon. The leaves of this plant are green, round and fuzzy, growing up to 2 feet across. The small, white or light pink flowers are produced in umbrella-like bunches atop stout, white hairy stems. They grow in the spring before the leaves. The Umbrella Plant, as it is commonly called, grows 3 to 4 feet high.
Pot Cultivation
The Umbrella Plant should be grown in moist soil in a sunny or partially shaded position. They are great plants to grow near bodies of water.
Propagation
They can be divided in the spring and replanted or seed may be sown in the fall or spring.
